My entire life, I have always shared a special bond with animals, both wild and tame - a deep kinship and empathy for their struggles as we share this world together.  They do communicate with eachother and with us, but because they don't speak our "language", so often they are misunderstood and too often treated harshly and unfairly, abused, neglected, maimed, and rightfully terrified by what may await them at the hands of man.

Knowing the animals as I do, my wish for Elmer's Rainbow is to share my love and compassion for all animals with you. Through my paintings, I try to speak for those who can not speak for themselves.  I respect their wildness; I long for their freedom.

I started painting in 2002 at age 45, initially using acrylic paints and river rocks as my "canvas". However, in 2005, I was compelled to try my hand at oil painting on canvas, and I've never looked back.  I am solely self-taught, having had no formal artistic training. I simply paint from my heart.

You will probably notice that many of my paintings are of wolves.  These are my very favorite creature to paint.  Their sheer beauty, gentleness, dignity and intelligence touch me like no other animal.   The battles, prejudice and hatred the wolves have to face in this life due to ignorance and intolerance are overwhelming.  I can only hope I can catch a glimmer of their magnificence and spirit in my paintings.

May Elmer's Rainbow shine a light of hope to all God's precious creatures, and bring you the assurance of the Peace and Goodness that awaits us all ... over the Rainbow.
